A
darkly clad but gentleman came upon a town
It
sat upon a coastal point, he noticed with a frown,
Hungry,
tired, also mired and soaked from all the rain
He
entered in the warm tavern, the Anchor and Chain,
Shunning
hearth and solid food, he ordered but strong drink
And
sat apart from all therein, his mood as dark as ink,
"Such
as he," the publican mused, "Are best left in the
back..."
But
fate conspired to intervene for in walked Katie the Black,
Now
Katie was a fearsome pirate and quite a fetching tart
All
who knew gave her wide berth for she was a Ravenheart,
The
Ravenheart was short on crew and Katie the recruiter
Decided right
then and there the dark man would not refute her,
With
woman wile and gold for drink, she set about her task
But
twenty rums and Katie's charm couldn't make him drop his mask,
That
he, a swordsman with dark past was keen all she was able
But twenty
more rums and an ale or two, she drank him under the table,
When
he awoke, his head was poundin', his stomach all afloat
And
when he roused himself to stand, by god, he was on a boat!
That
flamin' wench, she'd shang-haied his arse, played him for a fool
He
drew his blade, a stand he made, his sword was vengeance's tool!
The
pirate crew came on at him and he rebuked them without
a rest
Clash
of steel upon steel, the dark man proved with blade he was the best,
But
pirates don't fight fair, muskets came out and soon found himself
beaten
That's
when Captain Colorado did stand and shout, "By sharks
you can be eaten..."
"Or throw
in with us - sail the seven seas, adventure and gold
awaits."
"You'll
find us pirates are not so bad, just so long as we're your
mates!"
And
the dark man keened at all the toothless grins and noted with surprise
That
even though they'd kill him, they had admiration in their eyes,
Then
Katie the Black spoke, "Ahoy dark man, I know not what ails
thee,"
"But
talents as yours be welcome on the Ravenheart and a new life at
sea."
The
dark man stared for a long time, the pirates' finger's on their
trigger
Then
he spoke, "A life at sea with the likes of thee is just as good I
figger..."
So
he sheathed his sword, was welcomed in and learned the pirate way
Right
then and there and for evermore he became Ned Fish that day!
